Seasoning your de Buyer Mineral B pan is essential to develop its natural nonstick properties, improve cooking performance, and help protect the carbon steel over time.
Unlike many other pans, the Mineral B Classic must be seasoned on the stovetop only.
Follow the step-by-step guide below to season your pan correctly, and watch the full video tutorial at the bottom of this page for a complete visual walkthrough.

1. Start with a Clean Pan
Wash the pan with hot, soapy water to remove the beeswax coating, then dry it thoroughly. Any remaining wax will burn off during the seasoning process.

2. Heat the Pan on 3/4 Power
Place the pan over medium-high heat, at around 75% of maximum power, and let it heat until the surface is fully warmed through.

3. Add the Oil
Pour a small amount of high-smoke-point oil into the pan, such as grapeseed, avocado, canola, or sunflower oil.

4. Distribute the Oil
Spread the oil evenly across the entire cooking surface, making sure to coat the bottom and the sides of the pan with a thin, even layer.

5. Heat the Pan
Let the pan heat for about 10 minutes. Monitor it closely while it is on the stove and handle with care, as the pan will become extremely hot.

6. Let the Pan Cool
After 10 minutes, turn off the heat and allow the pan to cool.

7. Drain and Wipe Off the Oil
Carefully pour any excess oil into a safe container, then wipe the pan with a paper towel.

8. Heat the Pan One Last Time
Finish drying the pan by heating it on the stove for about 2 minutes.

9. Your Pan Is Seasoned
Your first layer of seasoning is now complete. You can start cooking right away, and with each use, the seasoning will continue to build naturally.
